Thomas Scott Obituary

Thomas Dean Scott

West Lafayette - Thomas "Tom" Dean Scott, age 75, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2020 holding hands with the love of his life as he often did, at Union Hospital. His life was cut short due to complications from an unsuccessful surgery at Ohio State University, causing a stroke and eventually succumbing to COVID-19.

Tom was born on February 10, 1945 in Trumbull County to the late Dean and Elsie (Penn) Baer Scott. A graduate of Youngstown State University, his early career included working in the banking industry and managing a racquetball facility. The remainder of his career (40+years) entailed working in the Human Resources field, as well as serving in a part-time capacity as Safety Coordinator for the City of Coshocton until January 2020.

As a young man he excelled in basketball and baseball. An avid Ohio State Buckeye (also known as Mr. Buckeye) and Cleveland Indians fan he loved golfing in his spare time. Tom never knew a "stranger", just friends he hadn't met yet.

He was member of Clark Community Presbyterian Church and attended West Lafayette First Baptist church at the time of his death.

Tom was married first to Kathryn Johnson Scott who survives. Then on March 1, 1997 Tom married Linda (Mullett) Lauvray Scott who survives him. Tom is also survived by his children, Kimberly (Matt) Wadja and Travis (Michelle) Scott both of Columbus; step-daughter, Leslie (Whit) Croft of Coshocton; three grandchildren, Brock and Cole Wadja and Logan Scott; three step-grandchildren, Darby (Nate) Smith, Caden (Chelsea Donohew) Croft and Cowen Croft.

Tom is precede in death by his parents, a daughter, Shannon Marie Scott, two half-sisters, two half-brothers, one step-brother and one step-sister.

Due to COVID-19, the family has chosen to not have any calling hours. A private family service will be held at Coshocton County Memory Gardens at a later date with Rev. Eldon Trubee officiating. Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home is serving the family.
