Russell Wenell Obituary
Russell was born to Roy and Florence (Olson) Nagell in Hennepin County on December 17, 1934. When Russell was five, he was sent to the Owatonna Orphanage where he stayed until he was the age of 10. He was adopted by Roy and Dorothea Wenell on June 8, 1945.
Russell served in the Army during the Korean War in Germany. After returning home from the service he had met his wife Donna of 57 years. As they resided in North Branch, Russell worked as a Tool Maker. Together Russell and his wife raised four children, Russell Wenell Jr., Douglas (Penny Willem) Wenell, Tim (Mary Hughes) Wenell, and Scott Wenell. They were blessed with eight grandchildren, Tabitha (John) Henderson, Lisa (Brian) Delougherty, Randi (Ramesh) Jacob, Briana (Jon) Huset, Bryan Wenell, Donna Jo (Vincent) Rocco, Sarah (Alex) Nordstrom, Anna Wenell; and 11 great-grandchildren.
No matter what time of day it was, he would always greet you with a "good morning"! Russell enjoyed going to garage sales, hunting, and fishing. He also enjoyed art as in painting and drawing; along with coin collecting, stamp collecting. Russell's greatest joy was entertaining family and friends at their home and sharing with everybody his homemade beef/venison jerky!
Russell is now reunited with his wife Donna and other family members who preceded him in death. Russell had a life well lived and will be in our memories always.
There will be a Celebration of Life held at Doug's residence located at 39520 Hemingway Ave. in North Branch on Saturday, October 18, 2025 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. All are welcome. Family interment will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in North Branch.
Arrangements are under the direction and care of Grandstrand Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Branch. Condolences may be expressed online at www.grandstrandfh.com.
