James Jon Postel, known to all as Jim, passed away surrounded by his family on Christmas Day 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, son and brother.
He was born April 15, 1962, in Woodward, Okla., and grew up in Humble, TX. He lived his life with humor, humility and love for his family, gardening and cars.
Jim is survived by his wife of 25 years Valerie Polaha Postel; daughter Jennifer Postel (Carlos) Giambi; three sons, Corbett James, Adam Byron and Samuel Joseph; father Paul (Elaine) Postel; step-father Hoyle "Ed" Pickle, of Mooreland, Okla.; sister Paula Postel (Kenneth) Trahan; brother Tommy Pickle; nieces Shelby (Mark) Spire and Katie Ann (William) Prescott, as well as other friends and family. He is preceded in death by daughter Meghan Victoria Postel and mother Judy Ellen Pickle.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2016, at Waverly Presbyterian Church, 591 Browders Loop West, New Waverly, TX 77358. The family would like to thank Judy Datsko of Virginia's Hospice for her kindness and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Family Alliance. Jim, you where a huge part of who I am today. You picked me up by my collar when I was going through one of the hardest times in my life. I know I'm a better father and Husband because of it. I'll never forget your kindness and all of the fun times. Heaven is a much brighter place today.
