Nancy Gean (Mitchell) Reiners of Montgomery, Texas, died on May 5th at the age of 80. Born in Newport News, Virginia, to parents Roy E. and Mattie M. Mitchell, Nancy was raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, along with her sister Ann Mitchell Jamison. She graduated from Charlotte Central High School in 1952 and went on to earn her BA in Education from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, in 1956. She later earned a BA in Fine Arts from Maryville University in Chesterfield, Missouri.
In 1957 she married Stanley D. Reiners. Over the next thirty-plus years, she established homes in Goldsboro, NC; San Tome, Venezuela; Charlotte; Burnsville, MN; Holmdel, NJ; and Chesterfield, MO.
While in Venezuela, she gave birth to twin sons, Rockford and Randall. A third son, Richard, was born in Charlotte. Although not quite five feet tall, her spitfire personality left no doubt as to who was in charge when the boys and their many friends gathered at the house.
Nancy's talents and interests ranged far beyond her ongoing domestic duties. For several years she taught elementary school, and she devoted much time to becoming an accomplished painter, photographer and sculptor. In addition, she was a knowledgeable genealogist and master flower show judge.
In 1994, Nancy and Stan built their retirement dream house on Lake Conroe in Bentwater, where she happily lived a full life with new friends, many clubs and visiting family. She is survived by husband Stan, their three sons, daughters-in-law Ann, Susan and Mary Jane, grandchildren Mitchell, Robyn, Roy, Rachael, Jake and Erica, and great grandson Rockford.
Nancy is warmly remembered as loving wife, mother, grandmother... and best friend.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 13th at 11:00 a.m. at Montgomery United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America at www. alzfnd.org.

When I moved to Bentwater I was still trying to get into the Daughter of the American Revolution doing my geneology for over 13 years. Nancy took me to the meetings. She was such a sweet gal and eventually I got in. I kept in touch with her and her husband Stan during her illness and she will be greatly missed. Kay Thompson
