In Loving Memory of Stephen Asberry Estep
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stephen Estep. Steve was born on July 23, 1949 in Texas City, Texas and passed away in Conroe Texas on August 1, 2024. A devoted husband, father, grandparent, and friend away on He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering support for his friends and family.
Steve embraced every moment of his life with a profound sense of love, faith, determination, and strength. He was a kind, softspoken, outgoing man who loved his family. Always willing to lend a hand when one of the children, a friend, or even an acquaintance needed help. He was an excellent carpenter, handyperson, and a jack of all trades. Steve enjoyed woodworking, playing golf, and hunting. He really enjoyed playing at golf courses throughout the United States. Horseshoe Bay was his favorite. Steve was a giver, he enjoyed helping at the food pantry at the Conroe Church of Christ where he made many special friends. At social events he would introduce himself to others & say, "Just call me Mr. Dixie." Working as a leader in the Boy Scouts, he helped shape the lives of countless young boys. Affectionally known as Boppa Steve by his beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren, he took immense pride in every one of them.
Preceding Steve in death are two brothers, Sam Estep and Dickie Estep, sister-in-law, Gwen Estep & niece Kimberly Persons. Survivors are wife Dixie, Sons-Carl Estep & wife, Maggie (Houston, Tx), Jake Estep (Palestine, Tx), Brian Newhouse & wife, Lisa (Montgomery, Tx), daughter, Misty Miller & husband, Robert (Lago Vista, Tx). He was most proud of his grandchildren: Megan Campos (Houston, Tx), Ashley Lopez & husband Louis (Houston, Tx), Jake Campos (Houston, Tx), Grace Estep (Houston, Tx), Jake Miller & wife Jessica (Georgetown, Tx) Madison Newhouse & fiancé Gabe Barragan (Cypress, Tx), Cameron Newhouse (Houston, Tx), Luke Miller (Lago Vista, Tx). Four great grandchildren: Ethan Campos, Stellar Lopez, Sunnie Lopez, and Ashton Campos.
Also surviving are siblings Tom Estep, Sr, (Texas City, Tx), Deb Persons & husband, Glenn (Deer Park, Tx), Janet Lawson & husband, Jim (Deer Park, Tx). And a special sister-in-law, Linda McPhail Gray, Willis, TX. Numerous nieces & nephews also survive.
A Celebration of Life for Steve will be on September 21, 2024 at Conroe Church of Christ 1860 Longmire Road Conroe, Tx 77304. Services are at 11:00 AM. Visitation is 10:30 AM. Steve Yates is officiating. Any donations in Steve's name should be made to 39'ers Group or Church Food Pantry through Conroe Church of Christ.
