Mr. Gary L. Rice, age 67, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2022.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Judy Rice (Godfrey).
He was beloved father to Alex Blake and Michael (Jessica) Rice and was Papa to Kai & Zayn. He was uncle to many nieces and nephews as well. Gary was the brother of Dequetta (the late Sonny) Netherton, Tommy (Shirley) Rice and the late Jean (Larry) Epperson and the late C.D. Rice. He was the son of the late Carl Rice and Mary Nell Rice (Redding). Gary was born and raised in Arkansas where he attended Morrilton Senior High School and Arkansas Tech University.
Gary was a beloved teacher who taught for 42 years. Most recently, he was at Cincinnati Christian Schools for 29 years where he served as the Math Department Chair, educator of all advanced high school and CCP math courses, coach of countless sports teams, senior class sponsor and others. He is most remembered for acting justly, loving mercy and walking humbly with God.
Gary started his teaching career, while in Arkansas, at South Conway County Schools and served in the Army National Guard for eight years. He then moved to Baton Rouge, La., where he taught at Family Christian Academy and then on to Nashville, Tenn., where he taught at Donelson Christian Academy.
Mr. Rice will be greatly missed by an immeasurable number of students, faculty, staff, parents and so many family members and friends.
Visitation to be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday at Tri-County Assembly of God, 7350 Dixie Hwy, Fairfield, OH 45014, with the service at 12 p.m. and burial immediately following at Landmark Memorial Gardens.
