Commander Harry Hixson, USNR retired, 88, of Maumelle died Friday, Nov. 26, 2021, at the Stonehaven Assisted-Living facility of Maumelle.
He was born March 27, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois to Orton and Clarice Hixson.
He became a U.S. Navy pilot in 1956 who later flew missions during the Vietnam conflict in 1967-68 off the carrier USS Oriskany. After Vietnam, he was an aircraft organizational maintenance officer, and a procurement and recruiting officer until retirement in 1979. He settled in Maumelle and took a position as a corporate pilot for Ameron.
Harry is survived by his daughter, Kimber L. Hixson of San Diego, California; stepson, Keith Burnett of Vilonia; brother, Thomas O. (Murry) Hixson of Sharon, Wisconsin; four nieces and nephews and seven grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Orton F. Hixson; mother, Clarice M (Yale) Hixson; brother, Owen Hixson; his first wife Katherine (Cannon) and second wife Sharon (Williams).
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday at Brearley Cemetery in Dardanelle.
