Norbert John Clifton, age 84, of Springdale, Arkansas, passed away on Oct 2, 2024, in his home of natural causes.
He was born June 11, 1940, in Morrilton, Arkansas. He was the son of Bill and Josie Clifton. He was a graduate of Sacred Heart, University of Central Arkansas and School of Credit and Financial Management. After graduating with a degree in Bachelor of Science in 1963, he started his first job at AVI as a Credit Manager. AVI was bought by Valmac, Tasty Bird and Tyson Foods, where he retired after 40 years as the Head Credit Manager.
In 1963, he married Mary Ellen Raible in Morrilton Arkansas, and they were married for 23 years. Norbert and Mary went on to have three children, Steven Clifton, Jeffrey Clifton and Kimberly Clifton.
Mary and Norbert resided in Russellville Arkansas and attended St John's Catholic Church. There he became a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus. After moving to Springdale, Arkansas, he attended St Rafael's Catholic Church. In 2004 Norbert retired and spent his time between Springdale and Saint Vincent. He enjoyed traveling, being with his family, and attending his rose bushes and feeding the hummingbirds and squirrels.
Norbert was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Josie Clifton. He is survived by his sisters, Sister Madeline Clifton OSB, Patricia Zimmerman, Francie Gottsponer, and JoAnn Craig; sons, Steven Clifton (Jacque), of Wichita Kansas, Jeff Clifton of Cabot Arkansas, and daughter Kimberly Blaylock (Michael) of Madisonville, Louisiana. Four grandchildren, Alex Clifton, Danielle Wilson (Brandon), Austin Clifton and Ashley Clifton. Two great-grandchildren, Wade Wilson and Winry Wilson, many nephews and nieces and a best friend, Robert Zimmerman.
The vigil will be held at Harris Funeral Home in Morrilton, Arkansas on October 11, 2024, from 6-6:30 p.m. with visitation following and the service will be held at St Mary's Church in Saint Vincent, Arkansas on October 12, 2024, at 10 a.m. with Father Jack Harris officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Smile Train (https://www.smiletrain.org), an organization he felt strongly about.
