On August 9, 2025, Norma Murielene Rains (Harris-Blackwell) passed away peacefully in the loving arms of her husband, Kenneth B. Rains. She was a great cook, great grandma and great lady!
She was born in Jerusalem, Arkansas, on April 3, 1944, to Dave and Jessie Harris. She attended school in Morrilton and married William Blackwell on June 25, 1960. They had two children: William Blackwell Jr. (Eric, Alex, and Karen) and Louise Cothren (Scott, Josh, Cari, Matt, Krista and Nick). They were married 44 years before William passed in February of 2003.
She was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law Betty and her grandchild Jason. Then by the grace of God, she met the love of her life, Kenneth B. Rains, of the Buttermilk Community. They married on August 11, 2005, and for the first time in her life she traveled out of her small community along the highways of the US, past the Arkansas and Colorado Rivers, enjoying every mile and minute with Kenneth.
With Kenneth came more kids: Randy Rains (Noreen, Brandon, Brandi and Brian), Tamara Bentrott (Jerry, Christopher, Micheal, Daniel and Rain), Kala (Roger and Carol) Rains, Judy Bocksnick (Jerry and Jordan), and Rebecca (James and Andrea) Haskins; and 10 great-grandkids.
She is survived by her sister, Janice Gill of Morrilton, her brother David Harris and sister Rhonda Holder both of Fairfield Bay, 17 grandkids and 20 great-grandkids. She passed surrounded by her loved ones and husband whispering sweet "I love you's" as she took her last breath. May we all be so blessed.
Visitation will be held 10 a.m. on Friday, August 15 at Lemley Chapel. Funeral service will be Friday, August 15 at 11 a.m. also at Lemley Chapel, under the direction of Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins.
