Richard "Dickie" Norris Bailey, 76, of Atkins, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, April 11th, 2024. He was born on January 5, 1948, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, to Norris Bill Bailey Jr. and Evelyn Wood Bailey.
Richard graduated from Dardanelle in 1966 and began his over 35-year radio career at KCAB. He later started the morning show at KVOM of Morrilton, where he hosted "Trading Time" when the show moved to live phone calls from listeners, eventually leaving the radio business in 2002. Outside work, he was an amateur radio operator (KM5WJ) and volunteer examiner with the Arkansas Diamond Amateur Radio Club.
He is survived by his wife, Sherri; his children, Elizabeth "Beth" Underwood (Kevin), Richard "Rich" (Shannon), and James (Amanda); his grandchildren, Julia, Ashlyn, and Paul; great-grandchildren, Bella, Christine, and Soren; sister, Patricia "Pat" Glazer; mother-in-law Lynette Green; step-children Kevin Plumlee of Monett, Missouri, Cody Plumlee of Cabot; and five step-grandchildren.

Dick was my mentor, and more importantly my friend when we worked together at KVOM. He taught me how to be a good announcer and weatherman. Mostly he taught me how to laugh, when thing aren't going my way. I am going to miss you.

To the family of Richard I was so pleased to help Sherri in her time of need for the 3 weeks I knew Richard it was a honor to help her we sat and talk about the radio station he work at I hope the family understands how I feel Richard will be missed I wish I could of known him more my condolences to all thanks for letting me help with him
