Gene Sweeney Rader

Gene Rader Obituary

RADER, Gene Sweeney, SGT USMC Of Philadelphia, PA formerly of Marlton, NJ. Age 27, passed away suddenly on March 26, 2010. He is survived by his parents Mark and Jane Rader, his brother Benjamin, his grandmother Gisela Sweeney and will also be missed by loving aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends. A two-tour veteran of Iraq and recipient of the Purple Heart, he was very proud of his Marine Corps experience although he struggled with his memories of combat and the loss of his fallen comrades. All who knew him understood that Gene marched to his own drummer. Always had. He was stubborn, intense and fiercely loyal, but there was much about life he didn't understand. Gene had to experience a thing himself to know about it. Deeply moved by the suffering of others, he was constantly confused by people's reactions to him. He loved and was loved by his family, who prays he is finally at peace. A viewing will held on Thursday April 1st, 2010 from 6-8 PM at The BRADLEY FUNERAL HOME, Rt.73 and Evesham Rd., Marlton, NJ where family and friends may come to pay their respects. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Caron Foundation at www.caron.org or to P.O. Box 150 Wernersville, PA 19565.

Allen and I send our love, prayers and sympathy to you, Mark, Jane and Ben. I loved Gene and had a special place in my heart for him ever since he was a young boy. He was a good soul and a protector of those who weren't able to protect themselves (especially our daughter) and I will always think of him with love and pride. Our hope is that you will find strength and comfort in each other at this very sad time. We love you.
