I always respected Gene for what he chose to do for his country and thanked him for that. My heart goes out to his family and friends. Gene will be missed.

Allen and I send our love, prayers and sympathy to you, Mark, Jane and Ben. I loved Gene and had a special place in my heart for him ever since he was a young boy. He was a good soul and a protector of those who weren't able to protect themselves (especially our daughter) and I will always think of him with love and pride. Our hope is that you will find strength and comfort in each other at this very sad time. We love you.
