AGE: 79 • Camden
Deacon William (Bill) C. Robinson of Camden, NJ, peacefully passed away in his sleep on October 19, 2017. Beloved husband of Shelia E. Robinson (nee Kalentek); brother of Peggy Brunetto and Paul Baker, loving father of Christine (Anthony) Scarpa, Deborah (Richard) Anderson and Sandy (Peter) Baczewski; grandfather of Timothy (Lisa) & Robert (Anne) Bridgeman, Michael (Ashlie) & Kristofer Scarpa, Richard (Jennifer)Lynch & Alyssa Anderson, Nicholas, Colin & Devin Hughes and Sonya & Rebecca Whitman. Great Grandfather of Coraline Bridgeman, Madison Scarpa & Richard Lynch Jr.
Born in Albany, NY, he was a member of the class of '57 Billerica High School (Massachusetts), Bill received a BS in Business & Management from LaRoche College in 1983. Bill proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 27 years and retired in 1986, retired from the Haddonfield Post Office in 2003 and thereafter worked at Blake-Doyle Funeral Home.
In 1988 Bill completed his study & was ordained a Permanent Deacon in the Diocese of Camden. Deacon Bill had been assigned to St. Joseph's Pro Cathedral & Transfiguration Parishes. He took great joy in facilitating RCIA and Baptismal Preparation and baptizing 151 children. Deacon Bill attained 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus in Collingswood & 4th Degree was awarded in Woodbury NJ.
He was the Past Commander of; American Legion Post 133 in Woodbury, Gloucester County Commander & NJ State Vice Commander. Bill was proud of his membership in the National Association of Letter Carriers, the Tin Can Sailors, Fleet Reserve, DAV, Am Vets Post 101 and was Past President of Branch 57. He was also involved with South Jersey Cursillo and Marriage Encounter.
Family and friends are invited to the viewing on Tuesday October 24, 5:30 - 8:00 pm at BLAKE-DOYLE Funeral Home 226 W. Collings Ave. Collingswood, NJ 08108 and Wednesday October 25, 10:00 - 11:00 am at St. Joseph Pro- Cathedral 2907 Federal St. Camden, NJ 08105. Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Interment to follow in Calvary Chapel Mausoleum Cherry Hill, NJ.

Two years later and we all still miss Deacon Bill at Transfiguration Church. His smile, his hug and watching him and Father Lodge carry on together! A truly good man.

December 18, 2017. The Class of 1957 of Billerica Memorial High School just learned of Bill s passing this week. We had our 60th reunion in June and Bill was missed by all. He had been a large presence at all of our past reunions and it was not the same without him. To Sheila and Bill s whole family, I am so sorry for your loss. Bill was a wonderful man and really lived life to the fullest. He will be dearly missed by so many people. Janice Austin Rahimi

I was in the RCIA program in 1999 at Transfiguration Church. Bill was the deacon there with Father Lodge.Bill was so helpful with my studies. He and Fr Lodge were so good together. He also worked for Blake-Doyle Funeral Home so when my mother passed away it was comforting to see a friendly face. Miss them both.

We were so saddened to learn of Bill's passing. He always had a smile on his face and a kind word. He was a very special man. We will miss him. We pray for both Bill and Shelia. John and I will be in Chicago, but you all will be in our prayers! May God hold you all in his loving arms as he comforts you. We feel certain Bill is already up with Father Lodge cracking jokes and watching over his beloved Shelia and children.

Deacon Bill was the best. He taught me a lot, and I sure appreciated his friendship. His smile and happy personality were something to be admired, especially at the monthly staff meetings. We enjoyed many hours working together and just talking about life, health, family and our faith in God. Please put in a good word for me with our Lord. Thanks for the memories........tom gore

On ordination day in 1988, I was standing next to Bill awaiting our procession into Sacred Heart for our ordination. I turned to Bill and told him I was honored to be his brother through our ordination. Bill could laugh harder than anyone, extend himself where others would not go, enjoy a good Manhattan, and do it all with a smile. I will miss Bill one of the truly great men I have been honored to know and love.

Deacon Bill was a wonderful, smiling man who served at Transfiguration Church. His visits back to Transfiguration were always greeted with excitement from the parishioners. He baptized my grandchildren and nephews. I am sure he and Father Lodge are telling jokes and laughing as they always did. Condolences to Shelia and their children. RIP Deacon Bill!

Bill was a good Deacon and a better husband, father and friend. He was a US Navy comrade and Diaconate classmate ordained in 1988.
