Alfred was born July 23, 1916 to the late Phillip and Barbara (Trapp) Reising in Posey County, Ind.
He was a member of the St. Bernard Catholic Church in Snake Run, was retired as a Tool and Die Maker having worked for International Harvester, Republic Aviation, and Whirlpool and was a dairy farmer.
Alfred is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Darlene Reising Turner; and brothers, John, Francis, Clarence P., Joseph P., Richard and Victor; and a sister, Elizabeth Reising Webster.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mary Elizabeth (Robinson) Reising of Snake Run; 2 sons, Alfred (Gladys) Reising Jr. of New Harmony, Ind., and Kenneth (Marcia) Reising of Fort Branch, Ind.; daughters, Judy (Mike) Hubers of Jasper, Ind., and Mara Beth (Jerry) Helsley of Francisco, Ind. Also survived by 14 grandchildren, Greg, Joe, Amy Jo, Jerry Jr., Patrick, Bradley, James, Sarah, Molly, Laura, Aaron, Nick, Adam, Dustin; and 14 great-grandchildren, Amy, Kimberly, Randal, Sarah, Matthew, Jennifer, Julie, Matthew, Elizabeth, Hannah, Tyler, Jonathan, Justyce, Cullin.
Also 1 sister, Rita Hobgood of Phoenix, Ariz.; and 3 brothers, Sylvester Reising of Dyer, Ind., Irvin Reising of Seattle, Wash., and Henry Reising of Arlington Heights, Ill.
A mass of Christian burial will be conducted on Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at 10 a.m. at the St. Bernard Catholic Church in Snake Run, Ind., Father Tony Ernst will be the celebrant. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be on Monday, August 4, 2008 from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Stodghill Funeral Home located on Hwy 168 West in Fort Branch, Ind. A rosary will be recited by the church parish Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will also lie in state from 8:30 a.m. till service time at the church Tuesday morning.
The family request in lieu of flowers donations be made to the St. Bernard Cemetery Fund, envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy can be made online at www.stodghillfuneralhome.com.
