Evansville, Ind.
Daniel "Dan" Clinton Cavins, 83, of Evansville, Ind., passed away Monday, October 12, 2015 at Braun's Nursing Home.
Dan was born in Evansville, Ind., on July 10, 1932 to the late Clinton Wilson and Marie (Watson) Cavins. Dan retired from SIGECO where he was a lighting engineer. He and his wife, Marda, were foster parents for many years. He also enjoyed bicycling, golf, and hunting throughout his life.
Dan is survived by his daughters, Danetta Ohning and Dawn Schaefer, both of Evansville, Ind.; sons, Daniel K. Cavins of Petersburg, Ind., David Cavins and Drew Cavins, both of Evansville, Ind.; nine grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and an aunt, Mildred Newton.
Dan is preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie "Marda" (Simmons) Cavins; son, Christopher Cavins; and brother, Jim Cavins.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN, 47711. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Browning Funeral Home and again from 9 a.m. until service time on Wednesday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Kaden Tower, 6100 Dutchmans Ln., Ste. 401, Louisville, KY, 40205.

My deepest sympathy to all of you in the loss of your father, grandfather and my dear friend Dan. He always had a smile, the biggest heart and was a giant of a man who cared about others before himself. He blessed me in so many ways throughout the years when I worked with him and served him at the Credit Union. He will be missed and I'm sure all of those around him these past few years will have fond memories of him. Take care.
