David Colby Obituary
Santa Claus, IN
David Thomas Colby of Santa Claus passed away on September 24, 2018, while on an Alaskan vacation with his wife.
He was born in Elmhurst, IL on Nov. 2, 1936 to the late Parker Lane Colby and Helen (Heimer) Colby. He was preceded in death by one Son, Tom Colby.
He is survived by his wife, Marry Julia (Judy) Colby, Santa Claus, IN, his son John Colby, his daughter Joanne Colby and a grandson Henry Colby all of Indianapolis, IN., three stepchildren, nine step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.
He was a member of the Army National Guard and graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University with degrees in Insurance and Finance. He was employed by CNA Surety as Indianapolis Branch Manager until his retirement in 1995.
With his wife Judy, he founded Anderson Woods, Inc. in 1977, a non-profit corporation summer camp serving persons with disabilities. This summer will be its 43d year, continuing under new management. Dave also volunteered for a number of organizations serving the elderly in Florida.
Services will be held at St Meinrad Catholic Church, on October 5th at St Meinrad, Indiana. Visitation at the church will be at 10 AM Central Time, followed by funeral service at 11 AM Central Time. Burial will be at St Meinrad cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities, Tell City, Indiana or St Jude Children's Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee.
