Charles Barron Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by ZIEMER FUNERAL HOME-NORTH CHAPEL on Feb. 19, 2026.
Charles A. "Chuck" Barron, 92, of Evansville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at Heart to Heart Hospice, after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Ruth (Worman) Barron, and his sisters, Mabel Miller and Jean Evans.

Chuck was born in 1933, and grew up in the Howell area on Evansville's west side. He attended F.J. Reitz High School and earned his GED in 1952, immediately prior to joining the U.S. Marine Corps. He married in 1953 before departing to serve in the Korean War. A union organizer, he became a member of the I.A.M. and worked as a machinist at Fendrich Cigar and then at Sterling Brewery, until its closure. Partially retired, Chuck worked security at the Evansville Regional Airport and later spent many happy years working in the Pro Shop at Clearcrest Pines. Chuck was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic church.

Chuck was generous with his time, gladly helping his neighbors, friends, and family. Chuck was an assistant varsity defensive coach at Rex Mundi High School and also volunteered his time coaching youth sports. He loved golfing, was a private pilot, and an avid IU fan. He also enjoyed, at various times in his life, motorcycle riding, square dancing, flying, swimming, and he led an active social life. But his greatest joy in life was his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years Jean (Coulter), his sons Rick and wife Teresa, Mark and wife Kim, Steven and wife Jennifer, and Chris and wife Kim. He was very proud of his grandchildren, Courtney Kingsbury (Chad), Brian Barron (Jackie), Olivia Schipp (Brian), Taylor Barron (Michelle), Aleise Barron (Cody), Sam Barron (Jon and Josh), and his great-grandchildren, Luke, Ella, Macy, Jackson, Liam, Lucas, Paisley, Kennedy, Callie, and William. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews and was particularly close to niece, Donna Gaiser (Miller).

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Monday, February 23, 2026 at Ziemer Funeral Home North Chapel, 6300 N. First Ave., Evansville. Funeral service will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Tim Garrett officiating. Funeral service will be livestreamed and can be viewed on Mr. Barron's tribute page at www.ziemerfuneralhome.com.

Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Heart to Heart Hospice for their kind and compassionate care of Chuck and his neighbors, Wes and Amanda Pendergraff, for all of their help.

Memorial contributions may be made to Honor Flight of Southern Indiana, PO Box 8234, Evansville, IN 47716.

Met Chuck in high school where I was playing and he was coaching. Very positive and inspiring personality and attracted your attention. Great influence and role model for young men.
In later years it was always great fun to bump in to Chuck share stories and time.
Prayers and thoughts for his family. May you rest in peace my friend.
