David Dds Obituary

Dr. David J. Ottilie, DDS

Evansville, Ind.

Dr. David J. Ottilie, DDS, 63, of Evansville, Ind., passed away Thursday, January 4, 2018, at his home.

David was born in Rockford, Ill., on February 19, 1954 to J. Fred and Barbara Lee (Green) Ottilie. He was an Eagle Scout, a 1972 graduate of North Central High School in Indianapolis, Ind., and graduated from Indiana University in 1976 where he was a Sigma Chi. David also received his doctorate in dentistry the same year that his son, Ryan, was born in 1980. He sang at Crossroads Christian Church and was an active leader in the Boy Scout troop there. David enjoyed fly fishing, riding his Harley and was a gun enthusiast. He was a prominent dentist here in Evansville who earned the loyalty and respect of his patients and staff. David was the world's greatest joke teller, but he was most known for being a great Pop-pop and spending time with his family, especially his two grandsons.

David is survived by his adoring wife of 41 years, Kim (Boring) Ottilie of Evansville, Ind.; son, Ryan Ottilie (Heather) of Evansville, Ind.; his mother, Barbara Lee (Green) Ottilie; sister, Julie Lee Broyles (Randy) of Morton, Ill.; brother, Daniel B. Ottilie (Sherry) of Indianapolis, Ind.; grandsons, Myles David Ottilie and Kyle Jacob Ottilie.

David was preceded in death by his father, J. Fred Ottilie.

Kim,
May God greatly bless you during this very difficult time. I knew you both from NC and IU and have not seen Dave since back then. What a wonderful legacy he has through those he loved and cared for, especially you, your son and family. Even back in school, he showed a loving kindness that was rare. I will always remember that. You were truly blessed together it seems. I am very sorry for your loss. It should help us all to cherish every day.
