He was a graduate of the University of Evansville with a master's degree in education, a major in social studies and a minor in science. While being involved with the Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corporation for 34 years, he taught at Tekoppel, Helfrich, Central and North where he was the department head for 10 years. He was the Supervisor of Social Studies department for the last six years. In the evening, Dennis dedicated his time to teach Adult Basic Education for approximately 25 years. Dennis felt that teaching was a profession that never felt like work; it was a joy to be a part of. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church. Dennis enjoyed collecting Evansville postcards and memorabilia, traveling, camping, fishing, planting tomatoes and genealogy. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandson while giving him history lessons over donuts. Dennis served in the United States Marine Corp during Vietnam and earned the rank of sergeant.
He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, J. Andrew and Gretchen Beadles of Evansville, Ind.; daughter, Amanda Beadles of Evansville, Ind.; mother, Evadine Bevels, Florida; 2 sisters and brothers-in-law, Beverly and Larry Ice, Florida, and Lisa and Stan Bright, Florida; grandchild, Riley Beadles; and nephew, Michael Duncan.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Pam Beadles, and his father, William Beadles.

Mr. Beadles was one of the best teachers that I had at any level. He was my science teacher at Tekoppel Grade School in the late 1970s. The lessons that I learned in Mr. Beadles’ science classes at Tekoppel were essentially the same as the ones I had when I took biology as a college student. It takes an incredible teacher and communicator to clearly present zoology and botany concepts to seventh and eighth graders and Mr. Beadles did it every day.
I had the pleasure of being a member of one of the science fair "teams" that he took to the annual regional science and engineering fair at the University of Evansville. It was a outstanding experience and one that I’ll never forget.
My thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Beadles’ family and friends.

Dennis as a member of the Board of Directors of the Indiana Council of Social Studies has been an model of a leader in Social Studies educaton. He's been such a "clear thinker" and has helped guide the organization. As a member, as well, I have appreciated his direction and devotion to Social Studies. I will miss him greatly! Our board meetings will NOT be the same.

Dennis was an exemplary educator who demonstrated a great commitment to citizenship education. I enjoyed working with him for many years when he brought students to Vincennes University annually to compete in the "We the People" competition. His dedication to education and the development of good citizens created a lasting legacy that will make a positive impact for many years. Dennis will be greatly missed by all who knew him. May God Bless Dennis, his family and many friends.

He was a great teacher who truly loved what he did. I enjoyed going to Washington D.C. with him for National Close-Up, he really knew the interesting places there. I will truly miss him and my sympathy goes out to his family. He is definitely one of the reasons I minored in social studies and became a teacher myself.

Please accept my deepest sympathy in Dennis' passing. I had the pleasure of working with Dennis on many projects with the Vanderburgh County Historical Society and Evansville Museum. In my role at the Museum, Dennis was always so gracious and generous in sharing his knowledge and collection. Recently, he was very helpful with the Vietnam exhibition at the Museum. We are proud to have some of his material relating to Vietnam on exhibition. We will miss Dennis--a good man and a good friend.

Mr. Beadles was a wonderful teacher with a very sweet spirit. I was blessed to be taught by him at Tekoppel. He would always say that he envied me because I was talented in art and he wished he could draw well. Mr. Beadles mentioned he was colorblind, so I would tease him that he was wearing one brown sock and one blue. What a nice man.

I was very heartbroken to hear of Mr. Beadles passing today. He was my favorite teacher at Tekoppel Grade School. He was always a very loving teacher who was highly respected. He gave his students that same respect back. He was always there to make us laugh when we needed it or just to talk to if we needed someone to talk to.
I will never forget him for his caring ways he showed us. He will be greatly missed.
I'm sorry to say that I'll be leaving town Thursday for a family vacation to California, or I would certainly be there to pay him my respects one more time.
With deepest heartfelt sympathy,
Angie (Peerman) Hickrod
