Doris Peach Obituary
Evansville, IN - Doris L. (Helfrich) Peach, 89, of rural Evansville, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2019 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Vernie Luigs, surrounded by her family.
Doris was born July 21, 1930 in Evansville to the late Edward and Carrie (Steckler) Helfrich. She worked for Kent Plastics for 28 years before retiring in 1991 and was an active member of St. Wendel Catholic Church.
Surviving Doris are four daughters, Brenda (Doug) Alexander, Patti Luigs, Lori (Jim) Schweikarth and Lisa Kissel; three sons, Gary (Yvonne) Luigs, Kenneth (Colette) Luigs and Steve (Vernie) Luigs; daughter-in-law, Tammy Luigs; a stepdaughter, Yuganda (Scott) Campbell; two stepsons, Michael (Debra) Peach and Tony Peach; three sisters, Ella Mae (Marlon) Kroeger, Marilyn Bittner and Julitta Flick; two sisters-in-law, Vernita Koester and Irma Helfrich; a brother-in-law, Walter "Lano" (Ginger) Peach; eighteen grandchildren and twenty five great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Herman Peach in 2012; by two sons, Dennis and Melvin Luigs, by her twin sister, Dolores (Marvin) Kiesel; sister, Bernice Schile and by two brothers, Melvin and Edward "Mups" Helfrich.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at St. Wendel Catholic Church, Rev. Ed Schnur officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Wendel Church Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 7:00 PM on Tuesday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street and from 9:00 AM until service time on Wednesday at St. Wendel Catholic Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Wendel Catholic Church, 10542 W. Boonville New Harmony Road, Evansville, IN 47720 or to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 4500 Montgomery Ave, Suite 1100 N, Bethesda, MD 20814.
