Gerald "Jerry" Edward Lutz

Chandler, IN. – Jerry Lutz, 80, of Chandler, Indiana passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 26, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on August 30, 1937 in Evansville, Indiana to the late Louise (Leigh) and Ernie Lutz,

He graduated from Bosse High School in 1956 where he played on the football team. Jerry spent his life serving his country and his community. He was a veteran of the United States Army Reserve. He retired from the Evansville Police Department in 1994 after 29 years of service where he earned the highest honor, a Gold Merit Award, for exceptional duty and bravery. Jerry was an active member of the FOP for several years. He loved nature, hunting, and his very favorite past time was fishing with the love of his life, his wife, Donna. Anyone who was around Jerry for more than a couple of minutes knew that his sense of humor was his biggest attribute. It is why he is loved by his many friends and adoring family.

Jerry is survived by his wife and soul mate of 37 years, Donna (Lant) Lutz of Chandler, IN; children, Kathy Stucker and her husband, Steve; Michelle Hale and her husband, Mike; Robert Lutz and his wife, Sunday; grandchildren, Stephanie, Eric, Lindsey, Amy, Loren, Triston, Aaron, Shelby, Mason; great-grandchild, Declan.

Services will be 10 A.M. on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Koehler Funeral Home, Perigo Chapel in Chandler, Indiana. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Garden Cemetery in Evansville, Indiana with the Warrick County Veterans Memorial Services to conduct military honors and the Evansville FOP to conduct honors.

Visitation will be from 3 P.M. until 8 P.M. on Wednesday August 29, 2018 at the funeral home and from 9 A.M. until the time of service on Thursday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Police Family Bereavement Fund or to the Wounded Veterans Foundation.
