Thomas Marshall Edwards, Jr.
Evansville, Ind.
Thomas Marshall Edwards, Jr. passed away on March 3, 2013 at his home in Evansville, Indiana. Tom was born July 9, 1947 in Jeffersonville, Indiana to Tom Edwards, Sr. and Betty (Phelps) Edwards both of whom preceded him in death. Tom was a Vietnam Veteran and earned medals of commendation for his duty to his country. He served as Fire Chief for the McCullough Fire Department. Tom was Director of Operations in the field of Waste Water Treatment prior to retirement. Tom was blessed with two beautiful marriages in his life. He was married to Diane (Horn) Edwards from 1969 until her death in 1991. He is survived by his wife Linda Spires (Slone) Edwards, married in1996. Tom was blessed with and survived by four daughters, Pam Edwards-Hall (Tony Hall), Carrie Edwards-Brown (Shawn Brown), Sharon Spires-Sarchenko, Cathy Spires-Nokes (Kevin Nokes). Tom also was survived by a son, Steve Spires (Traci Flickner - Spires); four sisters, Patty Edwards Rhoades-Leverett, Doris Edwards-Bean, Janet Edwards-Pettey, & Kathy Edwards-Smith; one brother, Bill Edwards. He is also survived by and loved his 12 grandchildren: Haylee Hall, Ray Brown, Sarah Brown, Stephen Lamar, K.C. Lamar, Garrett Nokes, Emma Nokes, Zavier Spires, Zoie Spires, Zander Spires. Tom played an important role in raising grandchildren Katie & Keith Sarchenko which he held close to his heart.He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather as well as a friend to many. In lieu of flowers the family is taking donations towards a scholarship that will be formed in his honor. A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at The Villas located at 4500 Theatre Drive, Evansville IN from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. A full military service with Honors will be held in New Albany at the National Cemetery, 1943 Elkin Ave, on Friday, March 8, 2013 at 2:30 p.m., followed by a celebration of his life at Scotts Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, IN from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Titzer Family Funeral Homes are handling local arrangements.
