Claudine Robertson Obituary

Claudine Ann (Scranton) Robertson, 95, of Galion, was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 18, 2025, at Sem Haven Health and Residential Care Center in Milford, Ohio. Claudine was born in Marion, Ohio, on July 8, 1930, to the late Clyde and Selora (Fox) Scranton. Claudine married John Robertson on June 7, 1958. They raised 5 children and spent 33 wonderful years together grounded in faith and devotion, before John's passing in August 1991. Claudine lived a life of deep faith, love, and service. She spent her career as a dedicated teacher in Prospect, Ohio and later at St. Joseph Catholic School in Galion, Ohio where she shaped not only young minds but also hearts, always guiding her students with compassion and grace. A faithful and active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Claudine lived out her Catholic faith in word and deed. She generously gave her time to the church and the hospital auxiliary, serving others as an expression of her love for Christ. Her gentle spirit, warm smile, and willingness to help anyone in need were reflections of the deep peace she carried in her heart. Those who had the pleasure of knowing her will fondly remember her passion for reading and the memories that were created around the kitchen table with her delicious home cooked meals. Claudine found great joy in her family and her faith. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She especially cherished quiet moments spent in prayer, reading, and being present with loved ones. Along with Claudine's parents Clyde and Selora Scranton and her husband John Robertson, she is preceded in death by her sisters: Rita Mae Scranton, Ruth Scranton, Frances Lessig, Christina Scranton, and Mary Scranton; her cousin, Nancy Litzenburg; her son, Daniel Robertson and her daughter-in-law, Derace Robertson. Left to cherish her memories are her children: Jeffrey (Shawn) Robertson of Ashburn, VA, David (Merry Jane) Robertson of Flint, MI, Scott (Theresa) Robertson of Reading, PA, and Ann (Rob) Lockwood of New Richmond, Ohio; her 9 grandchildren, Isabella Robertson, Sara Zimmerman, Michael Robertson, John Robertson, Lin Robertson, Meg Robertson, Sam Robertson, Christopher Lockwood, and Grace Lockwood; her 2 great-grandchildren, Fox Zimmerman and Jay Zimmerman; and her special cousin, Maurice (Lad) Fox. Friends may call on Friday, July 25, 2025 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the Gompf Funeral Service - Galion Chapel; 303 Portland Way North, Galion. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at 11:00am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 135 N Liberty St, Galion, with Father Paul Fahrbach, Celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Galion. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic School, 135 N. Liberty Street, Galion, Ohio 44833.
