Darrell Carroll Obituary

Darrell Lee Carroll, age 69, of Marion, Ohio, passed away following a car accident on Sunday August 10, 2025. Darrell was born on March 26, 1956, in Marion, Ohio, to the late Everett "Wayne" and Shelby "Jean" (Bailey) Carroll. Darrell was a graduate of Marion Harding High School. He worked most of his life as an auto technician for numerous repair facilities and dealerships. After retiring from the automotive industry, he worked as a correctional officer for a short span and then finished his life as a parts associate at Auto Zone. Darrell was married to the mother of his two sons. Penny "Sue" (Goddard) Carroll, from 1976-1991. On August 6, 1997 Darrell married his late wife Joan (Luchene) Carroll until her passing in September 2023. Darrell was quite the handyman and was always able to find a fix for whatever his boys got him into. He enjoyed his garden, mowing his son's lawn, and spending time with his family. His crazy sense of humor always kept everyone around him laughing. His love for hunting and fishing brought him tremendous joy and relaxation. The majority of the time you would also find him quietly and selflessly helping others that were in need without expecting anything in return. This passion combined with only having sons led him to be a "Leader of Men." Darrell is survived by his sons Corey (Marci) Carroll, Justin (Angel) Carroll, and Nathan Bishop. He is also survived by two sisters Truby (Tim) Sams and Kathy Williams. Darrell had several grandchildren: Elijah, Hannah, Alexia, Jayzen, Bryson, Ayden, Jensyn, Eva, and Cassie. He is also survived by a great grandchild, Jay, along with numerous nieces and nephews that also love him dearly. Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and two sisters: Shelby Clark and Patty Jeffers. Family and friends are called to the visitation of Darrell from 6pm until 8pm at the Marion Enterprise Baptist church on Monday, August 18, 2025. The service will be held the next day Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at noon at the Boyd Funeral Home with son, Corey Carroll officiating. The committal service will take place at Marion Cemetery immediately following the funeral procession. The Boyd Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the family of Darrell Lee Carroll in their time of mourning. In Lieu of flowers the family has asked that donation be made to Boyd Funeral Home to assist with the costs of the burial.
