Donna Jean Ochs

Donna Jean Kontak Ochs passed away on Friday, October 3, 2025. She was born July 4th, 1933 on her parent's farm in Curtice, Ohio. During her childhood, she cherished the time she spent on her grandparents' farm and shared many stories about gathering eggs, riding her pony, and spending time with her cousins. She also enjoyed helping her parents, Irma and William Kontak, in their Hardware Store. Donna loved meeting new people and was very proud to have also remained friends with her Harris-Elmore High School Class of 1951 classmates. She went on to graduate from Valparaiso University where she met her loving husband Richard. They were married 56 years before he passed away in 2011. Their children shared their passion for working hard, doing well in school, and spending quality time as a family. Donna is survived by her children, Valerie, Randy and Rob, her sister Marian, along with 12 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren. She is proceeded in death by her beautiful daughter Lizbeth, husband Richard, brother Eugene, and granddaughter Gina. Donna's greatest joy in life was being a mother and was very proud to have such a large and loving family. Donna was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church, and was most recently a member of Living Word Lutheran Church. Donna will be remembered for the hugs she gave, the beautiful afghans she knitted, her competitiveness at cards and scrabble, and her yummy meatloaf and potato salad. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025 at 11am at Living Word Lutheran Church, 7539 Dustin Rd. Galena, Ohio. All family and friends are invited to stay for lunch after the service. Memorial contributions can be made to the Living Word Lutheran Church Youth Group or to Columbus Audubon Society.
