WOODSTOCK, Md. - Casey Brecht Yuengling, age 22, of Woodstock, Maryland, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland after a brief illness.

He was born on March 22, 2000, in Clearwater, Florida, to Scott Francis Yuengling and Amy Jo Young of Woodstock, Maryland.

Casey was a graduate of Marriotts Ridge High School, Marriottsville, Maryland, class of 2018 and a graduate of University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland, with a bachelor's degree in communication and psychology, class of 2022. He was a member of Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi Eta Sigma National honor societies and on the University of Maryland Dean's List. Casey was the vice president of sustainability of Elkton residence hall and a member of TerpSki, a snowboarding and ski club. He had just started working in the field of organizational psychology and planned to pursue a master's degree in industrial/organizational psychology. Casey enjoyed wakeboarding, snowboarding, music and dancing, often attending music festivals and concerts. Gaming with friends, playing trumpet and drums, composing music, speaking Spanish and learning about different cultures were activities he enjoyed in his spare time. His favorite place was Clear Lake, Indiana, where he cherished time with family and friends. While all of these elements were an important part of Casey, his passions were his family and friends whom he loved with every bit of his big heart and soul. Casey's kindness, intellect, compassion, optimism, generosity, ever-present smile, terrific sense of humor, quick wit and loving spirit endeared him to all he met.

Surviving in addition to his parents are paternal grandmother, Frances Yuengling of North Chesterfield, Virginia, and aunts and uncles: Tamara and Brent Renollet, Tim and Becky Roehrs, Donna and Mike Joy, Stephen and Eileen Yuengling, Paula and Richard Paganucci, Christine Yuengling-Niles and Steven Niles. He is also survived by many cousins.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 21, 2022, and 10-11 a.m. on Friday, July 22, 2022, followed by a celebration of life service at 11 a.m., all at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, Maryland.
