Elmer Adams

1935 - 2021

Oakwood - Elmer D. Adams, 86, of Oakwood, died 9:20 a.m., Wednesday, December 15, 2021, At ProMedica Defiance Hospital.

He was born January 2, 1935, in Paulding to the late Carl and Veda "Betty" (Miller) Adams. On June 3, 1961, he married Carol Marie Fronk. She preceded him in death on March 11, 2021.

Survivors include three children, Mike (Valerie Dotterer) Adams, Marty (Lisa) Adams and Tom (Kim Bradford) Adams, all of Oakwood; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Taylor.

Elmer was a United States Army veteran and a self-employed mechanic. He was a member of the Oakwood Fire and Police departments, Paulding County Sheriff Reserve and the Oakwood American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, as well as reconditioning lanterns and fishing poles. Elmer was a friend to everyone and was always willing to lend a helping hand to people in Oakwood.

Funeral service will begin 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Oakwood with the Rev. Stan Harmon officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Memory Gardens, Defiance with military rites by Defiance VFW. Visitation will be held 5-8 p.m., Monday, December 20, 2021, and again on Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
