Joann Yoder

HICKSVILLE - Joann Yoder, age 81, of Hicksville, died on December 11, 2025, at home, surrounded by her family. She was born on February 2, 1944, in Washington, Indiana, to the late David and Lillian (Knepp) Yoder. Joann graduated from Hicksville High School and later married her sweetheart, Paul Yoder, on March 1, 1964, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. After retirement, she volunteered at the Bargain Box thrift store for the Hicksville Mennonite Church. Joann's greatest joy was her family and her many cherished friendships. Friends and family will remember her most for her loving heart, giving spirit, family gatherings and many acts of service to her church and community. She leaves behind her husband of 61 years, Paul Yoder; children, Dean (Christina) Yoder, Mark (Melissa) Yoder; siblings, David Jr (Rosie) Yoder, Clara (Mart) Graber, Ruth (Louie) Steury, Betty (Chris) Schwartz, Jim (Rosie) Yoder; grandchildren, Tiffanie (Kenny) Baird, Dustin (Charlene) Yoder, Zachary (Sari) Yoder, Conner (Emma) Yoder, Camdyn (James) Sedlacek, and 7 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Harry Yoder, and brother-in-law Richard Miller. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, from 2-7 p.m. at Hicksville Mennonite Church, 237 W. Arthur Street, Hicksville, OH 43526. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at 11 a.m., at the church with Pastor Jay Mast officiating. Family will begin receiving friends 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Forest Home Cemetery (Hicksville Union Cemetery), Hicksville, OH. Flowers may be delivered to the church on Wednesday between 12-2 p.m. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the church or to the Bargain Box, in honor of Joann.
