Jon Slagle

Liberty CENTER - Jon Earl Slagle, 68, of Liberty Center, Ohio passed away at Defiance Hospice on Sunday, September 7, 2025. He was born in Napoleon, Ohio on April 4, 1957, to the late Jack and Ida Mae (Glecker) Slagle. On June 25, 1982, he married Garlan "Bunny" Eberly.

Jon was a 1975 graduate of Liberty Center High School, where he excelled on the track team, qualifying 3 years for the State tournament in the long jump. He held the school record for 20 years. Jon's early employment included delivering 7-Up from the Napoleon Plant and Pepsi in Beaumont, Texas. Jon was a member of Laborers Local 500, and he worked road construction for Gerken Paving, Miller Bros, Shelley Co. and Ebony Construction. His recent career, and maybe his favorite, was delivering cars for KK Collision.

Friends were an important part of Jon's life. He enjoyed going to the Napoleon Moose Family Center #788 and the Grand Rapids Legion Post #232. He was an active Moose member for 16 years and Legion member for 14 years. Jon enjoyed helping his neighbors, especially in the winter, where you would find him cleaning their sidewalks after every snowfall. He also took great pride in helping the Colton Church Women with their annual Easter Egg Project. Every year he was the top seller. Jon's other passion was the Jackson Weis Golf Outing. He would find hole sponsors and golf in the yearly event.

Jon is survived by his wife, Bunny; daughter, Mikki (Al Wymer) Smith; granddaughters, Meghan Smith, and Alison Wymer; sisters, Karen (Jim) Savage and Julie (Steve) Vorwerk; sister-in-law, Julie Slagle; 10 nieces and 5 nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Terry Slagle.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Jon's honor on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the Napoleon Moose Family Center, Oakwood Ave., Napoleon. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jackson Weis Foundation or the Napoleon Moose Family Center #788. Arrangements entrusted to Rodenberger-Gray Funeral Home, Napoleon.
