DEFIANCE - Julie A. Frederick passed away on October 4, 2025, at CHP Inpatient Hospice Center in Defiance where she was surrounded by loved ones after a long hard fought battle with cancer.
Julie was born on March 19, 1967. She was the daughter of the late Clyde and Anna (Baringer) Frederick. Julie, also known as Jewels or JuJu, was a proud Ayersville graduate, class of 1985. After graduation, JuJu attended both Heidelberg and Defiance College where she received her Bachelor's degree in special education. She had love for all creatures in God's world and devoted countless amounts of time worshiping the Lord as she was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She volunteered and put her faith forward whenever it was asked. Julie also had a passion for education. She spent 19 years as the intervention specialist at Four County Career Center until her diagnosis in 2021 of cancer. Though she fought a hard, incredible fight, Jewels was being called upon by our Lord to gain her wings where she then found her forever home.
If anyone knew Julie, they would all say she was "the life of the party", literally. Her beaming personality was enough to make anyone's day brighter, even on her worst days. JuJu is survived by her brother Dan (Tracy) Frederick of Defiance, her niece Tristen Frederick and nephew Eli Frederick, both of Defiance. Julie also left behind two prized possessions of hers, Winston and Maggie (aka fat Linda), her two beloved basset hounds.
JuJu loved and adored her niece and nephew. She never missed an event of theirs whether that was Ayersville athletics or high school and college graduation. She was always the cool aunt, the one Tristen and Eli would always run to. In her spare time, Julie absolutely loved to travel. She went all over the world, and of course, made new friends as she did. She had such a passion for new cultures and ways of life. She also had the passion for music. Whether it was her jamming in the car or using her beautiful voice to sing at numerous events; Jewels loved anything and everything music.
Julie was at peace with the fact that her days on this earth were suddenly limited as she knew exactly where she was headed. She was looking forward to her reunion with her beloved parents, special friends, and all her fur babies who preceded her in death.
Although her loved ones' lives will now have a void without her present, all may rest knowing she is in the arms of the Lord. As JuJu would always say to her niece and nephew, "Those who hesitate, are lost". Don't hesitate to spread peace, love, and joy to all and never take this life for granted.
