Thomas Oberhaus Obituary

DEFIANCE - Thomas M. Oberhaus, 65, of Defiance, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born on March 22, 1957, to the late Marvin and Lois (Shock) Oberhaus in Defiance, Ohio. He was a 1975 graduate of Tinora High School and attended Toledo University. Tom was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and was a man of great faith. His memberships also include Moose Lodge of Defiance and Napoleon, Defiance Eagles and Napoleon American Legion.

Tom worked at Johns Manville for 15 years, in the administrative offices for Moose Lodge in Napoleon and was co-owner of St. Mike's Golf Course since 1990. Many will remember him for his passion of training and racing harness horses for over 25 years. He enjoyed golfing and spending time with his brother. He will be greatly missed by his family and many good life-long friends.

Thomas is survived by his brother, David Oberhaus of Defiance, sister, Sally (Tony) Stites, niece, Megan Stites, nephew, A.J. (K.C.) Stites, his grand-nieces, Finnley and Hazel and grand-nephew, Zane, all of Ft. Wayne, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 8, 2023, from 2-6 p.m. at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 9, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Schaffer Funeral Home with Father John Stites officiating.

Memorials are suggested to St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Online condolences can be given at www.Schafferfh.com.
