I have lots of good memories of time spent with your dad - he was always an "up" person and always had a great joke or funny story to tell.

But one of my earliest memories was when he'd get "stuck" picking me up and driving me home from grammar school when the weather was bad (the school bus was not available to me) and he'd arrive in a hearse!

Naturally, he thought it was pretty funny, and of course I thought it was extremely embarrassing.

But the most meaningful memory I have of your dad was when he responded to my note after your mom passed away. I wrote to let him know how sorry I was that she was gone and how I admired the fact that he took care of her under what had to be very difficult circumstances.

His reply to me was, "It was my pleasure."

What a lovely tribute to a wonderful marriage, and what a great example of a good man's character.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

My earliest memory of your Dad was at our dining room table making you kids eat all of your vegetables. Some of you opted to hold your nose and swallow peas whole.

Al was a wonderful, loving man with a great sense of humor. I will cherish his memory.

All of you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Love,
