Amparo Orban Obituary

Amparo Maria Orban
Mrs. Amparo Maria Orban passed away peacefully on December 16, 2024, at age 81, in her residence in Fairfield, Connecticut.
She was predeceased in death by her devoted husband of 46 years, Mr. Carlos Vicente Orban Barrera who departed in 2011.
Born Amparo Maria Geraldino De la Fuente, she grew up in Lima, Peru, as the daughter of a businessman and a school founder - educational administrator. She was a direct descendent of Jose Guillermo Geraldino y Arce, one of the Founding Fathers and signer of the Independence of Peru in 1821. Amparo attended the French School of the Sacred Heart, SS.CC Belen, graduating in 1959. She was an honors student with passion for French, Languages and Literature. Following high school, she continued her studies and earned a bachelor's degree in library science, becoming a Specialty Librarian.
In the course of her professional career, she traveled and worked with various libraries: architectural, banking, financial and higher education libraries in the private and public sectors. Her professional journey included research centers here and abroad which allowed her to obtain multiple specializations, a M.L.S equivalent credential and the membership in the American Library Association.
Amparo married Carlos Vicente, her loving husband in 1964. Throughout his Navy career, they moved with the family a number of times. During these transitions, Amparo dedicated herself to their three children Monica, Carlos Gustavo and Jacqueline. The family spent several years living in the Netherlands where she cultivated her interests in Art, European culinary studies and the Dutch language. Later, she pursued studies in insurance management, joining Mr. Orban's business.
They traveled frequently between San Isidro, Lima and Fairfield, Connecticut for many years. Upon retirement in Connecticut, they continued to enjoy vacations with family and friends. They loved the beach, boating, and appreciated nature relaxing by the ocean. Amparo took pleasure spending the summers in New England, especially in Mystic and Maine. In addition to traveling, she was learning Italian, going to the symphony, social gatherings, and the theatre.
Amparo held her family dear and treasured the moments spent with them. She was a devoted parishioner at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, she regularly prayed to the rosary. She was an advocate and supporter for the veterans.
Her family and friends will deeply miss her, cherish and hold her memory dear.
All are invited to attend her Memorial Mass at St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church, 1719 Post Road, in Fairfield on Friday, January 10 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be held at the Oak Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield, Connecticut.
