Amy Way Obituary
Amy Ambrose Way, age 39, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 12, 2014 in her home after a long, courageous battle with autoimmune diseases (including lupus) and seizure disorders. Her sense of humor, adventurous spirit, and caring nature enabled her to make friends wherever she went.
She is survived by her husband Craig, her father, Peter Ambrose and wife Irene of Fairfield, her mother, Linda Hill and husband Rich of Woodbury, brothers Peter Ambrose of Alaska and Matthew Ambrose and wife Anita of Fairfield, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Amy was the daughter-in-law of Carol Way of Fairfield.
Amy was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, on June 13, 1975. She grew up in Fairfield and graduated from Andrew Warde High School. She then attended Whittier College in California and Ithaca College in Crete, Greece, where she studied architecture, anthropology and archeology. She also studied at the New York School of Interior Design in New York City. She worked as a project manager for several years for Mark P Finlay Architects and Raymond Forehand Associates in Fairfield, CT. Amy also volunteered at Hospice Care of Fairfield.Always drawn to the beach, Amy was an accomplished sailor. She also loved painting and photography and many of her designs were based on local shoreline landmarks. This included handcrafted cards, jewelry and photos with handmade frames.
Friends and pets held a special place in Amy's heart. For the past year, her friend, Alex DeFelice dedicated himself to take care of her, be her confidant, and be by her side to support her through each day's ups and downs.Amy was inseparable from her beloved pets, Tiller and Molly. Friends will be received on Wednesday, September 17th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. Her funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at First Church Congregational, 148 Beach Road, in Fairfield.
