Andrew Veno Obituary
Andrew J. Veno, Jr., age 57, of Westport, the loving son of Marie Veno and the late Andrew J. Veno, Sr., passed away suddenly on Wednesday, May 25, 2016. Born in Norwalk, Andy was a graduate of Staples High School.
He was the owner of Andrew Veno Excavating Company for over 25 years, a family business that he took over from his father.
Andy liked to build things and was a perfectionist in everything he did. He also liked to cook at all of his family's parties and picnics. He will be remembered as a very kind hearted and giving person. Andy was a Westport Volunteer Fireman, a member of Westport PAL and a founder of Stubby's Softball team.
In addition to his mother, Andy is survived by his two sisters, Agnes Veno of Westport and Jo-Ann Porch and her husband, Stephen of Parkland, FL; his grandmother and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. directly at St. Luke Church in Westport. Interment is private. Friends may greet his family on Friday, May 27, 2016 (TODAY) from 4-8 p.m. at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Road in Fairfield.

I just heard of Andy passing. Though our paths didn't cross often in more recent years, when we did bump in to one another, his genuine warmth and kindness always made my day. We need more like you Andy! You will be missed.

I have many fond memories of Andy, from all of my visits back home. Andy knew I liked seedless rye bread and would always have a fresh loaf waiting for me when I got to his house. If I happened to mention a recipe that his Grandmother Veno used to make, Andy would go out and get the ingredients, and Marie and Aggie would have it on the dinner table the next day. Andy was always thinking of others first. He was truly an honorable and good man, and I will miss him tremendously. Our next family reunion will not be the same without him.

Aunt Marie, Aggie, ,Jo and Stephen...Andy had such a great heart and personality. If there was anything you needed, Andy was there..always. He was a big brother to his family and to the people of Westport for over 50 years. He'll be truly missed....God bless his great heart and soul....RIP Andy..be free

Aunt Marie,Aggy and Jo, I am deeply saddened by Andy's passing.There are such fond memories of our childhood and all of you that I will always cherish.
