Anne Magee Obituary

MAGEE Anne O"Brien Magee, of Westport, formerly of Stamford, died at her home, surrounded by her children, on Saturday, June 25, 2005, after a brief and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was 73 years old. Anne was the wife of the late Robert H. Magee for 52 years. She was born in Mount Vernon, N.Y., on January 13, 1932, and was the daughter of late Patrick J. and Julia M. O"Brien. She devoted her life to her husband, 10 children and 21 grandchildren. A daily communicant until her illness. Anne was a member of Our Lady of the Sea Parish and was active in the church in many ways including work with the Soup Kitchen, the ladies Guild of the Parish and volunteering for the school and church over the course of many years. She spent many memorable days with her family enjoying the sun and water at Fort Myers Beach, Fairfield Beach and ALC Beach. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed cheering on all her grandchildren and their many accomplishments. She also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and following the political arena. She is survived by her children, Joseph Magee and Annmarie Romano of Westport, Patricia Carlucci, Peggy Smith, Katie Cook and Liz Malloy of Stamford, Maura Chasen of Fairfield, Jim Magee of Weston, and Eileen Moran of Tiverton, R.I. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Sarah Magee, Joseph Jr., Brien and Christopher Magee, Kimberly, Christina, Ronald Jr. and Steven Carlucci, Audrey and Julie Chasen, Emma Smith, Anna, Kristin and Claire Magee, Tim Jr., Kelly and Lauren Romano, Tommy and Nicole Cook, Callie Moran and Liam Malloy. She is also survived by her sons and daughters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Robert M. Magee; her brothers, Thomas and Michael O"Brien; and her sister, Nora O"Brien Whalen. Her family will receive friends at the Leo P. Gallagher & Sons Funeral Home, 2900 Summer Street, Stamford, on Tuesday, June 28m from 4 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday on June 29, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 1189 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Assumption Cemetery, Green Farm Road, Westport. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to United Home Hospice, 40 Lindeman Drive, Trumbull, CT 06611.
