Anthony Vallone Obituary

VALLONE Anthony J. Vallone Jr., M.D., age 72, of Fairfield, beloved husband of Barbara Shaw Vallone, died peacefully on Friday September 2, 2011 at CT Hospice Branford, with his family by his side. Born in Bridgeport on June 10, 1939, he was the son of the late Anthony Vallone Sr., and Dorothy Ruffo Vallone. He was a graduate of Fairfield College Preparatory School, Fairfield University, Creighton University Medical School and the Brooklyn Eye & Ear Hospital. Dr. Vallone was a practicing Otorhinolaryngologist in the Bridgeport area for over 40 years. He was on staff at St. Vincent's Medical Center, The Kennedy Center and later Chairman of the Fairfield County Medical Association Medical Care Evaluation Committee. He was introduced to jazz in his early teens and saw many of the great jazz legends. He often referred to himself as a "Jazzaholic". A great Sinatra fan, he would travel all over the country to hear him perform. Tony loved and lived life to its fullest. He especially enjoyed a round of golf and a good cigar with friends. However, the most special times were those spent with his family. In addition to his beloved wife of 31 years, Barbara, survivors include his cherished daughter, Laura Barone and her husband Michael of Bronx, NY, his bother-in law John Corsano of Fairfield, niece Kim DePiano and her husband Carl of Atlanta, nephew John Corsano and his wife Karen of Orange and their families. He was also predeceased by his sister, Lorraine Vallone Corsano. Relatives and friends can greet the family on Tuesday September 6, 2011 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. A service celebrating Dr. Vallone's life will take place on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Friends and family are invited to share their special memories. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the CT Hospice, Inc 100 Double Beach Rd. Branford CT 06405. Dear Mrs. Vallone & Family - I knew Tony as a passing acquaintance through a mutual friend - the late David Lobdell. My fondest memories of Tony include a trip to NYC to hear some audio gear - he was quite the audiophile, and attending Mahler concerts with he and Dave.

He was always very funny and friendly, I celebrate and salute the joy he brought to many.

My prayers are with you.

Dear Barbara,
Please accept my deepest condolences for your loss. In addition to being a superb doctor, I always remember Dr. Vallone as the consummate jazz affecianado from my days at St. Vincent's OR (1975-1979), and your many jaunts to the 'Village' together! My prayers are with you during this difficult time.

Dear Mrs Vallone and Family,

We were very sad to hear of Dr Vallone's passing. He was a wonderful doctor and always made us laugh. His telling us to take 2 weeks off and go to Maui always made our work days seem lighter. We will miss him greatly.

Dear Barb and Laura, I am sending my deepest condolences to you, and to the rest of Tony's family and friends. He will always be remembered as a real class act, and a truly remarkable human being! I had the honor of working side by side with him for many years at St. V's . I will treasure the memories of many shared laughs with a person that loved his family, his food, and life ! I will pray for God's peace and comfort to keep you through this very sad time of your lives. Nancy Gentili, surg.tech.

I am so sorry to hear about Dr. Vallone He was a great man and a great doctor. I was his nurse for a few years at CHP and he was the best MD I ever worked with!!!! He loved his family so much. Whenever I would go in to his office he talked about Barbara and Laura(with Frankie playin in the background) The last I saw him was right before Laura's wedding. That's all he talked about! SO Proud!!! He is resting peacefully and is now the best guardian angel anyone can have!!!
