Arthur Benoit Obituary

Benoit, Arthur P.
Arthur Paul Benoit, age 67, of Bridgeport and formerly of Greenwich, passed away peacefully at home on May 14, 2014. He was born in Greenwich to Arthur S. and Grace Benoit. He is survived by his wife, Claire (Ferris); his children, Robert, Michelle Nevins and Tracie Harris; his stepson, Jeffery Donohue; his brother, Edward; sister, Jane (Joseph) Doran; ten grandchildren; two great grandsons; and nieces and nephews.
Art served proudly in the US Army 1st Calvary Division in Vietnam, 8th Engineering Division. He was a butcher at the Cos Cob Food Mart for 25 years and most recently was employed with Balducci's in Westport for the past 5 years. He was proud of his yard and garden and spent many hours caring for it. He loved his cats and adopted many from the area over the years.
Art was a well-known bass guitar player and many would remember him from the old band The Creations and other local groups.
A memorial gathering will be held this summer at his home to share stories and celebrate his life.

Claire, after you and I (Rosie) met in a Chat Room on the internet many, many years ago, we finally arranged to meet. We enjoyed being with you and Art, although with us living in Florida, we only got together a couple of times when we visited relatives in Connecticut. At those times, Art was such a gracious host and had a great sense of humor. Please accept our most sincere sympathy on his passing.

Dear Claire and Jeff: My heart goes out to you with deepest sympathy on the sudden loss of Art.He took so much pride in his yard and gardens, and the pool for everyone to enjoy. The beautiful new kitchen he just had installed..Think of good memories as you look around your home and you can see all the changes that he accomplished . As the expression goes "gone but not forgotten" I will miss his sense of humor especially his humorous jokes about being a butcher
Art. Iknow you are up there keeping track of Claire about turning off the outside lights. You will be greatly missed Art. R.I.P.

From all the guys at the A&P that Artie worked with over the years we will miss you. The Tuesday night fishing trips on his boat that ended up at the pizza place in Greenwich. The good times we had in the meat dept. The dinners at the boat club. Good memories. Condolences to Clair, Jeff and all his family.
