Benjamin P. Alves

ALVES Benjamin P. Alves, age 82, of Oxford, died on Monday, June 28, 2004, at St. Vincent's Medical Center, Bridgeport. Born in Ludlow, Mass., he was the son of the late Domingos Pereira and Teresa Alves. He resided in Bridgeport for more than 35 years before moving to Oxford. He was self-employed, working in the construction industry. Survivors include his wife, Rosa Fernandes Alves of Ansonia; two daughters, Carmina Palarino and her husband, Carl, of Oxford, and Fatima Pires of Bridgeport; four sons, Benjamin Alves of Ansonia, Francisco Alves and his wife, Teresa, of Bridgeport, Manuel Pires of Bridgeport, and Joao Alves and his wife, Lisette, of Bridgeport; a sister, Adelaida Jorge of Bridgeport, and a sister, Lidia and one brother, Joao, both of Portugal; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. A memorial service will be held in Woodland Church of Christ, Ancient Highway, Oxford, on Sunday, July 18, 2004, at 3 p.m. Interment was private in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. The Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main Street, Bridgeport, was entrusted with arrangements.
