Bernard Leo Dickens, 91, of Trumbull, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, in Bridgeport Hospital.
Bernard was born in New York to Morris and Regina Dickens. He graduated from RPI, in 1953, with a BSEE and went on to earn his MSEE from the University of Pennsylvania in 1963. He worked as an Electrical Engineer in Television/Video Systems, first at RCA Broadcast Systems, for 19 years. He then worked at RCA Broadcast Systems for 4 years and then went to CBS. He shared a Patent for the original Video Cassette Recorder and was part of a team that earned a Technical EMMY for their work on the CBS Evening News.
Bernard enjoyed gardening and being with family. He is survived by his son, Mark Dickens and Mark's wife, Sandra; son-in-law, Jay Dimand; grandchildren, Amanda (Jay), Jonathan (Christina), Jeremy and Randy; and great-grandchildren, Ayla, Brody, and Spencer. He is also survived by his sister, Ceil Cohen; brother, Sam Dickens; and sister-in-law, Norma Lemberger.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife, Leonore; his daughter, Karen Dimand; and granddaughter, Carrie Dickens.
A Graveside service will be held on Sunday, November 26th, at 1:00 p.m. in Ohave Sholom Cemetery, Glen Wild, New York. For more information, and to share a condolence message, visit www.greensfuneralhome.com .
