Caroline Bumbera Obituary

Caroline Bumbera, age 88, passed with peace and grace on Monday, March 27, 2017 at the Katie Grace household of Jewish Senior Services in Bridgeport. She was predeceased by her loving husband, "Mike", in 1971.
Born and raised on the East Side of Bridgeport, Caroline was the youngest daughter of the late John and Caroline (Nemergut) Figlar. A devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she is survived by son, Stephen Bumbera of Norfolk and two daughters, Jean Marie Johnson of Norfolk and Marianne Blanco of Stratford; granddaughters, Megan Betts of Mandeville, LA and Katie Bumbera of Norfolk; grandson, Alexander Blanco of Stamford; and great-grandchildren, Holly and Jackson Betts of Mandeville, LA.
Before her illness, Caroline was a long-time parishioner of St. Augustine's parish and sang in the church choir. She attended religious retreats where she acted as a guide for the blind and frequently volunteered at a nursing home after Sunday Mass.
Caroline adored young children and served as a beloved nanny for several local Orthodox Jewish families in the 1980's and 1990's.
Friends may call on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 8:15 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. James Church, 2110 Main St., Stratford officiated by Rev. Daniel Kennelly. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery.

I'm so sorry for your loss,she was special kind hearted person. My family knew her when they lived in Bridgeport,but we also had the pleasure of spending time with her in Pa. where meet her for the first time. She will always have a special place in our hearts
