Christian Kane Obituary

Kane, Christian P.
Christian P. Kane, age 51, beloved husband of Maureen Hermes Kane, of Fairfield, passed away on October 26, 2013 in Yale New Haven Hospital. In addition to Maureen, his devoted wife of 23 years, his memory will be embraced by his cherished children, Tyler and Jocelyn, both of whom he was so proud of; his sister, Rosemary Kane Carlough, and her husband, Bill, of Pleasantville, NY; his parents-in-law, Martin and Carole Hermes, of Lancaster, PA; one sister-in-law, Kathleen Groover, and her husband, Brian, of Frederick, MD; one brother-in-law, Jonathan Hermes, and his wife, Carolyn, of Newark, DE; one niece, Grace Groover; four nephews, Timothy and Mark Carlough, Trad Groover, and Andrew Hermes; Chris was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Elizabeth Peppard Kane. Raised in Stamford, Chris moved to Fairfield in 1986 after graduating from the University of Connecticut. Chris was a respected member for the market research community for over 20 years having worked for both market research suppliers (Yankelovich & ACNielsen/BASES) and some of the worlds' top consumer package goods companies including; Kraft, Proctor & Gamble, Clairol, Duracell and James River. Most recently, Chris was the Vice President of Market Research for KAO Corporation. While business dictated constant travel, Chris truly enjoyed vacationing with his family, which included spending time on any beach, skiing, and relaxing at Nantucket. He enjoyed these times most when they also included friends. Chris possessed a wonderful sense of humor that could bring out the best in those he came to know. He touched many and will be deeply missed. Calling Hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-8 PM in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. His funeral will take place on Thursday at 10 AM in St. Thomas Church. His interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the Kane family would prefer memorial contributions be made to a college fund that is being established for Tyler and Jocelyn. I am so saddened by the news. Chris was a great person. I will always remember him laughing and happy. We worked together at BASES, I had not seen him in many years but always exchanged Christmas cards. I will miss his little handwriting on those cards. My thoughts and prayers go out to you.

Chris I always told you know how much joy and love you shared with your family and with Clairol friends and happiness from within your heart. I will always remember the coffee breaks and Take Your Child to Work Day and getting to know your family at the holiday parties with my children. I am deeply sad to miss a wonderful friend and genuine person and God must need you to continue to bless those still here and shine the light upon us to walk the right path to meet again in Heaven. RIP and I will never forget you

Praying for your family. Mathew:28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Maureen,
I was speaking to a mutual friend today and she told me about Chris. I had lost touch with him but I use to work with him at Clairol. Such a great guy...kind, great listener and a pleasure to work with. My deepest sympathies to you and your family.

My family grew up with Chris, on Van Rensselaer Avenue, in Stamford, Connecticut. He had a huge personality, accompanied by a big smile and a big laugh. In many ways, he was the "mayor" of the block. The world has lost someone who, in every way, embodied the meaning of the word "friend."

To the Family - as a fellow Kao Co- worker; Chris was such a joy to work with. I enjoyed many laughs over coffee in early mornings with him - catching up about his travel or his family. He was a great teacher, mentor and a prime jokester. Deepest sympathy expressed to you in this time of sorrow. He will truly be missed.
