Collin Mackay Obituary

Collin J. Mackay
Collin J. Mackay, age 27, of Fairfield, passed away Monday, January 11, 2021. Born in Hartford, Collin is the loving son of Stephen and Catherine (Dube) Mackay and cherished brother of Kayla Mackay. His altruism, selflessness, and kindness was treasured by all. As a teenager he spent summers participating in Greenfield Hill Congregational Church's Appalachia Service Project, helping build homes for those in need. As a creative builder, Collin ultimately found his passion working at ODR Studios in Newark, NJ as Chief Fabricator on a major fashion collaboration. Collin loved being outdoors, whether it be hiking, fishing off Saugatuck Island, or playing golf with his father and friends. A true people person, Collin had a unique ability to live an entirely ego-free life, building a joyous connection with anyone who crossed his path. His upbeat personality and love of life will be sadly missed. Survivors in addition to his parents and sister include his maternal grandfather, Norman Dube of Norwalk; an uncle, John Mackay and his wife Marybeth of Newport, RI; two aunts, Lisa Dube Forman and her husband Bob of Lake Placid, NY and Jeanette Dube of Chatham, NJ; and several cousins. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Robertson and Nancy Mackay and maternal grandmother, Bernice Dube. A walk-through visitation will be held Friday, January 22, 2020 from 4-8 p.m. at the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. Face Masks are required to attend the visitation. Due to Covid restrictions, the celebration of Collin's life on Saturday the 23rd at 11:00 a.m. will be private, however the service will be Live Streamed at www.youtube.com/c/greenfieldhillchurch. In lieu of flowers, donations in Collin's memory may be made to the The Salvation Army USA.

I will always remember being Collin's math tutor. He was a wonderful boy and I will always remember seeing Collin again years later and the nice young man that he had become. I am so sorry for your loss.

What I loved most about Collin... without a doubt the iconic, wide smile. As wide as his heart, with room for all. He had that unique gift of making you feel important. Cathy and Steve, my love is always with you. Lia

Collin was just as you say a sweet wonderful boy who grew up into a handsome man. He was my grandson John‘s good friend. It was always a pleasure to see him. Our hearts go out to you, Diane and John Desmond

Although I didn’t get to know Collin too well, I could tell immediately upon meeting him the large size of his heart and his charisma. I’m so sorry for your loss; may his memory be a blessing.
