Constance Williams Obituary

WILLIAMS Constance (Connie) Bond Williams, age 87 of Newtown, beloved wife of 63 years of Newton H. Williams, Jr., passed away suddenly Friday, March 4, 2011 at Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Monroe the daughter of the late Charles and Nellie Bond, she had been a lifelong area resident. She was a graduate of The Academy of Our Lady of Mercy Lauralton Hall, Class of 1941. A lifelong active and devoted member of Stepney Baptist Church, Mrs. Williams was a member of the American Baptist Women's Group, the Ladies Aid Society, sang in the church choir, taught Sunday school and formerly served on the Deaconate. Connie was an avid antique doll collector and was proud of the extensive collection she maintained. She always looked forward to her annual trips to Vermont and seeing the friends she developed there more than 80 years ago. Mrs. Williams loved cooking and baking, and most especially, time spent with her family. Survivors in addition to her devoted husband, Newton include two sons, Jeffrey A. Williams and his wife, Donna of Newtown, and Craig A. Bond of Bethlehem; five cherished grandchildren, Charissa, Heather, Lane, Chandler and Hailey; two great-grandchildren, Hannah and Jack; a brother, Chandler Bond of Saint Johnsville, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Glenn Williams and a brother, Sanford Bond. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at 1 p.m. in Stepney Baptist Church with the Rev. Kevin A. Merritt, Senior Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Stepney Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Williams may be made to either Stepney Baptist Church or Stepney Baptist Church Book of Remembrance, 423 Main Street, Monroe, CT 06468. I remember spending my childhood in Stepney visiting the family farm with my dad David. I remember Mrs Williams.It is strange driving on RT25 now and no farm. I wish I could be with you all. God Bless you all.

To Newt and family, your loss is the loss of the community of Monroe. Connie was and always will represent what I loved the most about Stepney Baptist church. I enjoyed her company for many years in choir. A strong, Faithful, Compassionate and loving woman with a wonderful sense of humor and zest for life! her presence will be sorely missed.

To Newt, Jeff, Donna, Craig, and all the grandchildren and family. Connie will forever be in my heart, as she has always been a true friend, and wonderful person to me. I have so many great memories of her and how she made my time in Trumbull easier .She loved her family, and always cared about mine and loved sharing pictures. I will truly miss her.
