Daniel N. Chanda, 91, lifelong resident of Stratford, passed from this life on May 26, 2025, following several illnesses. Daniel was a Navy veteran, a retired Assistant Chief of the Stratford Fire Department and former Fire Commission member. Daniel spent many years as an avid polka and square-dancing enthusiast. He will be remembered by his family and friends for his outgoing personality and his sense of humor. Daniel is survived by several nieces and nephews, many of whom he was able to visit with at a family reunion this past July. Daniel was predeceased by his parents, Stephen and Julia Chanda; his brothers, William, Joseph, Steven, and John Chanda; and sisters Pauline Hudak, Regina Raslavsky, Margaret Gorlo, Frances Roberts, Catherine Anderson, Anne Millett, Irene Kollar, and Marie Ernst. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at 10:00 a.m., meeting directly at St. Mark Church, 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Stratford. The Adzima Funeral Home in Stratford has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
