Farrell, David T.
David Thomas Farrell, Sr., 64, beloved husband to Maureen Dillon Buckley, of Bridgeport passed away Tuesday October 29th 2013 at his home surrounded by his children and close family. Affectionately known to most as "Big Dave" he will be remembered most for his sense of humor and laughter. He is predeceased by his wife Diane Speer Farrell; his parents, George and Sally Tierney Farrell; and a brother, Thomas Farrell. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Michael Farrell and his wife Julia of New York City; William Farrell and his wife Molly of Fairfield; David Farrell, Jr. and his wife Alison of Fairfield; and Kathleen D'Amura and her husband Alan of Fairfield. "Papa"/"Grandpa Big Dave" will be missed by his loved and cherished grandchildren, Maggie and Grace Farrell, Olivia and Jocelyn Farrell, Pippa Farrell, and Ellen and Tommy D'Amura. Dave is also survived by his siblings George Farrell, Jr. of Seymour; Sally Lyddy of Newtown; Kate Berarducci of Trumbull; Hilary Carr and her husband Christopher of Fairfield; Marianne Sullivan and her husband Raymond of Huntington; Joseph Farrell and his wife Stephanie of Raleigh, North Carolina, and many nieces and nephews. Dave was born on August 29th, 1949. He was a lifelong Bridgeport resident and attended Our Lady of the Assumption School; Notre Dame Catholic High School; and the University of New Haven. He served in the Marine Corps Reserves, and was a member of the Catholic War Veterans, Elks Club, Port 5, and the Gaelic American Club. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. Dave cherished his Irish heritage and enjoyed listening to music, playing golf and tennis, crossword puzzles, and going for a ride. Prior to his brief illness, he was employed by the City of Bridgeport for 10 years. He also held various positions including a Wilton Police Officer for many years, worked for Willis Distributors, Parsons Screw Products, UPS, and had a self-employed painting business. Calling hours will be held on Monday November 4th from 4-8pm at Spear-Miller Funeral Home located at 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield, CT 06824. His funeral will take place on Tuesday November 5th at 11am at St. Margaret's Shrine, located at 2523 Park Avenue, Bridgeport, CT. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dave's name to the Swim Across the Sound foundation, www.give.stvincents.org.

I am so saddened Dave has passed on. I worked with him for the City of Bridgeport. Dave ALWAYS with a smile upon his face,kind,frienldy and sharing a joke when we would see eachother.
