Donald Fulton Obituary
Dr. Donald S. Fulton, OD, age 78, of Monroe, beloved husband of Jane Flynn Fulton, passed away peacefully in his home on December 8, 2025. Donald was born in Derby on September 17, 1947, to the late William and Agnes (Hassett) Fulton. He was a graduate of Ansonia High School. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Connecticut and an additional bachelor's as well as his doctorate from Pennsylvania College of Optometry. Dr. Fulton was in practice in Monroe and Thomaston for 52 years. He enjoyed playing golf and racquetball and will be remembered for his sense of humor, generosity and kindness. He loved special trips and family events. In addition to his beloved wife of fifty-two years, Donald is survived by his devoted children, Jeffrey Fulton and his wife Laura of Trumbull, Megan Maturo and her husband Mark of Orange, cherished grandchildren, Harper Fulton and Ellie Maturo, and his brother, William Fulton, U.S. Navy (Ret.) of Georgia. Visitation on Monday, December 15, 2025, from 10-11:30 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford. Prayers at 11:30 a.m. Inurnment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may donate in memory of Donald to Fairfield Center Stage, P.O. I´m so sorry for your loss. I was so devastated to hear about his passing. He was the best Dr ever. Loved that he was old school. Never got my prescriptions wrong. Been going to him for over 16 years. I´m going to miss his humor and expertise. RIP doc! You will be forever missed.

I am devastated to hear that Dr. Fulton (Big D) that passed away. I was informed by a letter I received yesterday. I am heartbroken! He was not only my optometrist, he was genuinely concerned about my care! I had suffered a cranial nerve palsy and he diagnosed it when no one else took the time and blamed it on sinusitis! I have cried on his shoulder and he always had a tissue and a warm smile and a few positive words for me...I looked forward to my visits with him..we laughed during our visit, I affectionally called him Big D, a name that fits him! He was bigger than life, he was and will always be Big D to me! Much love to his family and all his friends who are sharing in this tremendous loss. I miss him already! RIP Big D

Just found out about Dr. Fulton´s passing thanks to the letter received from his office, thank you for letting us know. He was a great man and optometrist who we counted on for our eye care and exams. He made his appointments enjoyable and easy. God bless him and his family, we were truly blessed to know him.

So very sorry to learn of Dr. Fultons passing. I was a patient for about 40 years and always looked forward to our chit chats during my exams usually around family and golf. For all the patients he had running two practices, he always remembered my kids names, what sports they were playing etc. and always inquired about them. He was a gentle, kind and warm soul and a wonderful doctor to me and my wife. Our condolences to his family and friends.

Mrs. Fulton, Jeff, Megan, and family- I am so sorry for your loss! I have been a patient of Dr Fulton's my whole life and went through school with Jeff. Dr. Fulton was a terrific doctor and an amazing human being. His gentle soul showed in his interactions with people and his humor was a bright spot for all that had the luck to know him. He will be missed!

My wife and I started going to Don when we moved to Monroe in '73. He was kind and thorough with a great sense of humor. We will miss him as he was not just a doctor. He was a friend. May he rest in Peace
