Kwok Ng Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by North Haven Funeral Home, Inc. on Mar. 30, 2026.
Kwok Wah Ng, known to many as Jim, 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 26, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Sum Yuk Ping. Kwok was born in China and was the son of the late Fook Ng and Louie Fun Toy.

Kwok spent his early life in China before moving to the United States in 1962. He began his career as a chef in New York City's Chinatown, where he quickly rose to the position of head chef. With determination and entrepreneurial spirit, he went on to open his first restaurant, Wah Ping, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and later the Dragon House Restaurant in Monroe, Connecticut. Kwok proudly owned and operated his restaurants for over 20 years, until his retirement in 1990.

Kwok had a deep love for fishing and found great joy in cooking, baking, and gardening. He will be remembered for his hard work, dedication to his family, and the warmth he brought to those around him.

In addition to his wife, Kwok is survived by his children, Sue Joe (Douglas), Helen Naughton (Michael), David (Seleny Lai), and Tony (Crystal); and his grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Andrew, Nicholas, Dylan, and Jayden.

The visiting hours will be on Thursday, April 2nd, at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon. Interment will follow in the All Saints Cemetery.
