Edward Mullarkey Obituary
Edward Joseph "Joe" Mullarkey, Jr., of Wethersfield, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2025, just one month shy of his 90th birthday. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary (Sayers) Mullarkey. Joe was born on March 24,1935 in Ballina, Co. Mayo, Ireland to the late Teresa (Neylon) and Edward J. Mullarkey, Sr.
Joe will be missed by his children, Peggy Ann Mahder and her husband David, of Fairfield, Edward Mullarkey and his wife Debra of Tolland, Mark Mullarkey and his wife Anna, of Wethersfield, and daughter-in-law Sharon Hennessey of Hartford. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kevin Mahder and wife Jacquelyn, Meghan Stuer and husband Shaun, Katherine Moretti and husband Nick, Patrick Mullarkey, Erin Scott and husband Juan, James Mullarkey, Emma Mullarkey and Katelyn Mullarkey; and his great-grandchildren, Ada, Sloane, Sawyer, Charlotte, Quinn, J.J. and Codie. Joe was predeceased by his son James M. "Jay" Mullarkey, his siblings Sean Mullarkey, Margaret (Peggy) Mullarkey and Maureen Cosgrove, and his brother-in-law Joseph Cosgrove.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Jefferson House for the wonderful care and compassion shown to Joe.
Friends and family may call on the Mullarkey family from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 21, 2025 at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Road, Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Joe's life will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in the Church of the Incarnation of Christ the King Parish, 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfield. Burial to follow in Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery, Section J, 1 Cottage Grove Road, Bloomfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Irish American Home Society Scholarship Fund, 132 Commerce Street, Glastonbury, CT 06033 or the House of Bread, 27 Chestnut St., Hartford, CT 06120.
