Ethel Sakowitz Obituary

SAKOWITZ Ethel Sakowitz, age 84, of Easton, wife of the late Norman Sakowitz, died Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Born in Bridgeport on December 14, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Julia (Farkas) Fleischer. Mrs. Sakowitz was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II where she served as a registered nurse. She continued her nursing career throughout her professional life. Mrs. Sakowitz volunteered for many years at the Jewish Home for the Elderly, and was a member of Congregation Agudas Achim and its Sisterhood, AMIT and Hadassah. She is survived by her devoted son, Mark Sakowitz and his wife, Randy, of Huntington Station, N.Y.; a sister, Irene Fleischer of Fairfield; grandchildren, Anna, Alex, Robert and Sarah. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a beloved son, Paul Sakowitz in 1993. Funeral services will be held Wednesday (TODAY) at 11 a.m. from the Abraham L. Green & Son Funeral Home, 88 Beach Road, Fairfield. Interment will in the Agudas Achim Cemetery, Reid Street, Fairfield. Shiva will be observed in the family home.

Our sympathy on the passing of Ethel. Ethel was our neighbor, for over ten years and we remember her smile and friendship but most of all, the love and kindness she showed toward little Sarah.
