Harriet Edith Macfarlane Lane

Harriet Lane Obituary

LANE Harriet Edith Macfarlane Lane, age 97 of Bridgeport, joined her family in heaven, Sunday May 3, 2009. Born in Bridgeport, she was the daughter of the late William Taber Macfarlane and Alice Maude Hatchman Macfarlane. Harriet was predeceased by her husband, Edwin Dales Lane; her sons, Edwin William Lane, George Taber Lane; and her sister, Marion Alice Macfarlane Stagg. Harriet grew up in Fairfield and graduated from the Unquowa School, Dana Hall School in Wellesley, Mass., and the Junior College of Connecticut. Upon graduation she was a secretary for the Bridgeport Board of Education. Her fondest memories were on the shores in Westerly, R.I., where her family enjoyed their summer home. She pursued a passion for music, art and laughter with her family and friends. A genuinely affectionate homemaker made her a favorite in the neighborhood while raising her beloved boys. Harriet is survived by her niece, Jane S. Stagg; her great-niece and loving caregiver, Diana S. Maver and husband Michael, great-nieces, Susan S. Downey, Margaret S. Forcier; and great-nephew, Dwight E. Stagg III and many great grand nieces and nephews. Harriet is also survived by her faithful home companion, Eileen R. Bevans. There will be no calling hours and interment will be private. The Larson Funeral Home 2496 North Ave., Bridgeport, is in care of arrangements.
